About
Nick Thomas is an experienced trial attorney. He concentrates his practice on DUI defense, criminal law and personal injuries.
He has tried cases before juries in both circuit and magistrate courts. Nick takes pride in providing his clients with prompt attention, around-the-clock access, and tenacious representation.
Bio
Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, Nick has called South Carolina home since 1995. After graduating from George Mason University and before entering law school, Nick attended the University of South Carolina and provided legal research for attorneys in Orangeburg and Richland Counties. While at the Charleston School of Law he clerked for Yarborough, Hutto & Jackson and with the Orangeburg Public Defender’s Office. Prior to opening his own practice, Nick was the lead attorney for the Charleston office of Coastal Law, LLC. He previously served as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Hon. Edgar W. Dickson in the First Judicial Circuit where he conducted research for all stages of litigation coming before the court, composed court orders, and advised the judge on discovery, bail bond, pre-trial, trial, and evidentiary motions.
Nick has tried cases before juries in both circuit and summary courts. Additionally, he serves when appointed as Special Referee for Calhoun County, hearing foreclosure cases and property disputes. Nick is the former President of the Orangeburg County Bar Association (2013-2017) and a member of the Charleston and Orangeburg County Bar Associations, as well as the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, DUI Defense Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in the State of South Carolina and the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina.
